Objective

Climb to the top of the construction site while Donkey Kong hurls barrels, springs, and other obstacles at you. Jump over or dodge the hazards, climb the ladders, and rescue Pauline, who is being held captive by the giant gorilla. Every stage grows more difficult, faster-paced, and demands greater skill.

The Legendary Stages

Donkey Kong offered a variety of stage types, a genuine novelty back in 1981. Barrels rolling down slanted girders, moving elevators, conveyor belts, and a rivet stage each presented a different challenge, making the game far more varied than most arcade titles of its era.
