Terrorists have seized Manhattan, and it falls to you to cover the relief force from the air. The game flies you through the city's streets, bridges, and skyscrapers while you take out enemy troops, vehicles, and missiles with the machine gun. Shooting innocent civilians costs you, and bonus targets are worth extra points — so accuracy matters just as much as raw firepower.

The game runs on Sega Model 2 hardware, which also powered classics like Virtua Cop and Daytona USA. GunBlade NY was later released for the Wii in 2010 as part of the Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns collection.
